Common problems with an AEG tumble dryer are:

AEG tumble dryer Filter and condenser cleaning

  • How can the condenser of the dryer be cleaned?
  • The "clean filter" indicator is lit on the display of the tumble dryer.
  • Indicator "Check condenser" is lit on the display of the tumble dryer.

At AEG, the procedure for cleaning the fluff filter is the same for condenser tumble dryers and heat pump tumble dryers.

However, there are differences in the cleaning of the condenser.

Clean the lint filter

At the end of each cycle, the round filter symbol appears on the display. The fluff filter should then be cleaned.

Open the door of the tumble dryer and pull the filter up.

Once the filter is removed, press the clip to open the filter.

Remove the fluff from both parts of the filter with your hand.

Clean the filter if necessary with a vacuum cleaner.

Remove fluff from the seals. Use a vacuum cleaner for this.

After cleaning, you should be able to see through the filter when you hold it up to the light. If the filters are very dirty or contain limescale, they should be washed under running water or descaled.

If you can no longer clean the filter, it needs to be replaced.

Close the filter and place it back in the filter holder.

Clean condenser

Do not use the tumble dryer if the condenser is blocked with fluff. It can damage the tumble dryer and increase energy consumption.

1 - Clean the condenser of a heat pump tumble dryer:

If the condenser symbol is flashing on the display, clean the condenser compartment and the condenser fins.

Check this once every six months or when the indicator on the display lights up.

The access to the condenser may vary somewhat, depending on the model of the tumble dryer. It is best to consult the user manual.

Warning: Do not touch the metal surface of the condenser with bare hands. Wear protective gloves. Clean carefully to avoid damaging the metal surface.

  • Open the door of the tumble dryer and remove the door filter from the holder.
  • Open the large flap of the condenser space under the door.
  • Turn the lever(s) in the opening to unlock the smaller flap of the condenser space.
  • Open the smaller flap of the condenser space behind.
  • Remove the fluff from the fins of the condenser and the condenser space, in the direction of the fins.
  • There are special combs from AEG for thorough cleaning of the blades.
  • A damp cloth and/or a vacuum cleaner with a brush can also be used.
  • Close the smaller flap of the condenser space and tighten the handle(s). Also, close the large flap of the condenser space.
  • Place the lint filter back in the filter holder in the door.

2 - Clean the condenser of a condenser dryer:

If the Condenser symbol is flashing on the display, please clean the condenser and its compartment.

The access to the condenser may vary somewhat, depending on the model of the tumble dryer. It is best to consult the user manual.

  • Open the door of the tumble dryer and then open the larger flap of the condenser compartment.
  • Turn the lever(s) to unlock the small flap of the condenser compartment.
  • Open the flap of the condenser compartment.
  • Pull the condenser out of the condenser space by the bracket.
  • Clean the condenser in a vertical position under running water using a shower head.
