Zanussi dishwasher error codes: what do they mean?

Zanussi dishwashers display errors such as i-codes on the display. Zanussi is part of the Electrolux group — the error codes are identical to those of AEG and Electrolux.

Zanussi dishwasher i10 or i12 — water supply problem

What does it mean?

The dishwasher is not getting water or not enough water to start the programme.

Possible causes:

• The tap is not turned on
• The supply hose is kinked
• The filter in the supply hose is clogged with limescale

What can you do yourself?

1. Turn the tap fully on.
2. Check the supply hose for kinks.
3. Turn the tap off, remove the supply hose and clean the mesh filter in the connection.
4. Reconnect and start a programme.

Does i10 remain? Then the solenoid valve (water valve) is defective. Book a repair with We.repair.

Zanussi dishwasher i20 or i30 — drainage problem

What does it mean?

The dishwasher is not draining the water. There is water at the bottom of the appliance.

Possible causes:

• The filter at the bottom of the dishwasher is clogged
• The drainage hose is kinked
• The drainage pump is defective

What can you do yourself?

1. Open the door and remove the bottom basket.
2. Unscrew the filter grid and remove the filter.
3. Clean the filter under running water with a brush.
4. Remove any water at the bottom with a sponge.
5. Check the drainage hose at the back for kinks.
6. Replace the filter and start a rinse programme.

Zanussi dishwasher i40 — door problem

What does it mean?

The door of the dishwasher does not close properly or the door lock is not functioning correctly.

What can you do yourself?

1. Check if there is crockery or cutlery jammed that prevents the door from closing fully.
2. Wipe the door edge and the door lock clean.
3. Close the door again with a clear click.

Zanussi dishwasher i50 — motor fault

What does it mean?

The wash pump or the motor is not functioning correctly. The spray arms do not rotate and the crockery is not cleaned.

Possible causes:

• Foreign object (cork, piece of glass) is blocking the pump
• Defective wash pump
• Defective circuit board

What can you do yourself?

1. Remove the lower spray arm (turn counterclockwise) and check if there is anything in the pump connection.
2. Reset the machine: unplug, wait 5 minutes, plug back in.
3. Start a short programme.

Zanussi dishwasher i60 — heating problem

What does it mean?

The dishwasher does not heat the water to the correct temperature. Crockery remains dirty or wet.

Possible causes:

• Heating element defective due to limescale
• Thermostat or NTC sensor defective

What can you do yourself?

1. Carry out a descaling with dishwasher descaler.
2. Reset the machine: unplug, wait 5 minutes, plug back in.

Is i60 recurring? The heating element or the sensor is defective. Book a repair with We.repair.

My Zanussi dishwasher does not wash clean

Possible causes:

• Filter blocked — food residues end up on the dishes
• Spray arm blocked — holes clogged with limescale
• Too little salt or rinse aid
• Incorrect stacking of dishes

What can you do yourself?

1. Clean the filter at the bottom of the tub (turn and pull out, rinse under the tap).
2. Remove the spray arms and rinse the holes under running water. Use a toothpick for stubborn limescale clogs.
3. Check the salt and rinse aid levels.
4. Ensure that dishes do not block the spray arms.

My Zanussi dishwasher is leaking

Possible causes:

• Seal (gasket) worn or damaged
• Internal hose or connection loose
• Too much foam due to incorrect detergent

What can you do yourself?

1. Check that the seal all around is intact and has no cracks or hard spots.
2. Always use dishwasher tablets or powder — no hand washing liquid.
3. If the leak is coming from underneath: turn off the machine and call We.repair.

3 tips to prevent faults with your Zanussi dishwasher

1. Clean the filter weekly

The filter at the bottom of the dishwasher catches food residues. A clogged filter causes poor washing results and drainage problems (i20). Unscrew the grid and rinse it under the tap.

2. Use the correct salt and rinse aid

Without salt, limescale deposits on the heating element and the spray arm. Keep the salt level and rinse aid level topped up.

3. Run a hot programme regularly

A monthly programme at 65–70°C removes grease and bacteria that accumulate at lower temperatures.
