Why it's better to repair!
Did you know that repair
- extends the lifespan of your household appliances by an average of at least 4 to 6 years? Therefore, in most cases, repairing is not expensive, but simply a good and smart investment!
- saves an average of 43kg of CO2 compared to buying a new appliance? That's equivalent to the CO2 that 2 trees absorb in one year..
- is supported by Europe - in June 2024, the 'right to repair' legislation was passed in Europe, which will come into effect in the member states between 2025 and 2026. This legislation is part of Europe's mission to achieve a fully circular economy by 2050.
- Will become more recognisable in 2025? Belgium is introducing the repairability index from 2 May 2025, following France - a mandatory indication on dishwashers, among other appliances, of how 'repairable' they are.

Repair extends the lifespan of your device by an average of 5 years.
According to a European study, repair extends the lifespan of your product by an average of 4 to 6 years! From 4 years for a coffee machine to 6 years for a washing machine.
Repairing is better for the planet !
Did you know that in Europe, an average of more than 17kg of 'e-waste' is thrown away per person each year? A repair not only saves this unnecessary waste but also reduces an average of 43kg of CO2 emissions compared to purchasing a new device!

Right to repair?
The right to repair legislation was voted on in the European Parliament in June 2024. In the coming years, repair must become more accessible. At We.Repair, we are happy to contribute to this !
Are you also helping to make the European economy fully circular?
The repairability index
From 2 May 2025, Belgium will introduce the repairability index - a mandatory indication of how 'repairable' a device is, and a first consequence of the right to repair legislation. This will be mandatory for dishwashers, with more categories of household appliances to follow later.
We.repair welcomes this initiative and is happy to guide you further in the repairability of devices.
